Things to do during Saratoga Winterfest

Winterfest is an esoteric term that appears to describe any activity or group of events that take place in the dead of winter.  Even Wikipedia, the free online, publicly edited encyclopedia, defines it as “Winterfest is the name of several winter festivals held in various locations in the United States” In short, it is a winter celebration or a celebration of winter.

Winterfest is clearly meant to chase away the Winter Blues…Blahs…or Cabin Fever.

It is an invitation to pack on the layers of warm clothing, mittens, hats, scarves and waterproof boots, leave the warm comfort of your hearth, electric heaters, and down comforters and venture outside into the frigid, inclement weather of the dreary winter months.

In a Southern state there is a winterfest that involves backyard wrestling…Maybe I would catch the 11:00 news to see a highlight of that but walk out the back door into the cold winter air…no thanks.

There are winterfests that bring together faiths for worship services, family based activities that include entertainers, magicians and storytellers.

There are winter fests that focus on snow or ice sculptures.   Some focus on the consumption of adult beverages, while others serve hot chocolate and flavored coffees.

Some have unusual food offerings some offer comfort foods.

Our Saratoga Winterfest offers all the best things you can envision for a winter getaway.  There is something for everyone. It is a week long celebration beginning January 24 and culminating with the popular Chowder fest on February 1st.
