The Saratoga Experience – Perfect Fall Getaway Itinerary

Fall is the perfect time of year to take a long weekend getaway to Saratoga Springs and the surrounding areas. Start your long weekend at Saratoga Arms and then explore all that our area has to offer!

DAY 1

Welcome to Saratoga Springs! Arrive at 497 Broadway and check-in to begin your exciting three-day weekend in Saratoga. While you’re checking in, be sure to grab one of our famous chocolate chip potato chip cookies.

After you get settled, take a self-guided mineral springs tour in the Saratoga Spa State Park. In the mid 1800’s, bathing in and drinking the mineral waters had become a popular health treatment.

Several bathhouses were in operation in Saratoga Springs. Even today you can enjoy a mineral springs bath at The Roosevelt Baths. This Old House recently experienced the mineral baths during their Saratoga Springs season.

Now that you have relaxed from the mineral bath, it’s time to head downtown for dinner. We recommend trying Chianti, Seneca, or Salt + Char.

DAY 2

Take an early morning stroll along North Broadway to view the grand residences that were known as Summer Cottages.  The Saratoga Springs Heritage Area Visitors Center even has downloadable brochures for various areas throughout the city, including North Broadway.

Come back to Saratoga Arms to enjoy our farm-to-table breakfast on the porch with selections from local sources.

After breakfast we suggest heading over to Union Avenue to visit the National Museum of Racing & Hall of Fame. Here you can learn about the history of thoroughbred horse racing and those who have made a name for themselves. We recommend watching the signature film What It Takes: Journey to the Hall of Fame in the Hall of Fame Room.

With the whole afternoon ahead of you, it’s time to explore the areas surrounding Saratoga Springs. Pick up lunch from Mrs. London’s and drive to the Saratoga Battlefield to experience a driving tour or short hike with a guided audio tour.

Even with a full day of activities planned there is still time to visit one of the local orchards to go apple picking and enjoy upstate’s famous cider donuts.

Return to Saratoga Arms to wash up and partake in small plates and beverages before heading downtown for dinner at Hamlet & Ghost followed by a show at Universal Preservation Hall.

DAY 3

Wake up for a quick breakfast before packing your bag to hike in the Adirondacks. There are tons of hiking options for all different levels. Grab sandwiches from Putnam Market to enjoy on your hike before traveling up north.

Not interested in hiking? We recommend hopping on the open air car of the Saratoga, Corinth & Hudson Railway for a 90 minute scenic tour of the Southern Adirondacks.

Return to Saratoga Arms for a nap and midday snacks then head downtown for another amazing dinner at Solevo Kitchen + Social.

Finish the night with a glass of champagne at Bocage Champagne Bar.

DAY 4

Enjoy your final breakfast at Saratoga Arms and after packing up, head downtown to do any last minute shopping. We recommend stopping in TOGA Heritage, Impressions of Saratoga, and Silverwood for unique finds to remember your trip.

Enjoy lunch at Druthers before hitting the road and heading home.
